"We are very happy that we have been chosen to be a part of this fantastic group. We have received crucial support for our design philosophy within our professional circles after winning the WAN 21 for 21 award."Sami Rintala, Rintala Eggertsson Architects, WAN 21 for 21 winners 2012

The 21 for 21 award started out as a simple task to find 21 architects that could lead the way for design in the twenty first century. However, the 2011 WAN judges, realising the importance of such an award, set a very high bar for entry selecting only 5 firms from the 114 entries, thus transforming the our simple idea into a nothing short of a Global Quest.

The subsequent jury panel in 2012 bought into the mission and allowed only a further 8 winners from a massive 162 entries. This year, the pressure is really on with only 8 places remaining...

JUDGES
This year's panel of experts include: (from left to right)
Martha Thorne, Executive Director of the Pritzker Architecture Prize, IE School of Architecture & Design; Ma Yansong, Founding Partner, MAD architects; Malcolm Reading, Malcolm Reading Consultants; Dennis Ho, Associate Partner, Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners; Andrew Best, Partner, Buro Happold; Vo Trong Nghia, Founding Partner, Vo Trong Nghia Architects

WAN, in partnership with Arup, will showcase the winners at a dedicated exhibition at Arup's headquarters in London to a specialist audience of international developers, architects, designers and engineers. Winners will be invited to this special celebration of fresh talent and industry innovation.

"This award has clearly found a life form of its own, having been shaped by two passionate WAN jury panels. It is particularly satisfying, for us and the judges, when we see our 21ers going on to win other accolades or mentioned in the press for designing an amazing building and to know that we helped in small way to bring fresh design into the limelight..."Michael Hammond, Editor in Chief at WAN
The entry fee is £50 GBP and only one entry can be submitted per individual or firm.
The deadline for entries is 28 February 2013.
No idea is too big or too small for this special category, only innovation is required.
