WIN AWARDS 16, RESIDENTIAL ISSUE INSIDE 68
Welcome. This month Gail meets Jay Gort, director of Gort Scott, and an accomplished architect, artist and academic with a specialisation in (sometimes unusual) urban design. Think public toilet reinvented – in gold. A judge on three of our important awards, Public Sector, Leisure or Entertainment Venues, and Museum or Exhibition Spaces, Jay will be letting us in on what impresses him and shares tales of a concrete monastery that has always inspired him.
We also feature a selection of the projects that have already entered the Public Spaces categories (which are only open for submissions until the end of this month) including a delightful puppet theatre, a community clubhouse in Taiwan and a showroom for a high-end medical equipment company in China.
We’re delighted to announce the continuation of our media partnership with v2com, the Montreal based newswire specialising in the distribution of
design, architecture and lifestyle press kits to the media. v2com will once
again be providing gift certificates to each of our winners for a personalised press kit distributed across their international network.
Many congratulations to all of you that have been shortlisted for the Hospitality categories, and our gratitude to the judges for their time and expertise.
‘The extensive and broadly varied list of the global entries embodied all that excites me about design… the entrants interpretation to the continually evolving popular culture never ceased to surprise… project briefs varied so greatly that all had to be given individual consideration by the judging panel…being part of this was a very rewarding and enjoyable experience’. James Twomey, Director, ReardonSmith Architects.
